Submit a proposal
Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal for the online LOEX Fall Focus 2023 Conference!
The topic areas we chose for Fall Focus 2023 are "Welcoming and Engaging Students New to Your Institution" and "Building and Sustaining a Supportive Professional Community at Your Library" as we believe both are particularly relevant to where we are at now: students are entering college or transitioning to new institutions having experienced a level of disruption & transformation that exceeds anything in living memory and thus need additional assistance & revised programming to make sure their first year at their new institution are worthwhile and fruitful. But it's not just about students—everyone has been through a lot and librarians are no exception; so how are we supporting ourselves and our colleagues to make sure we are not just surviving but thriving? We invite you to submit a proposal on either of these focuses and share how you are making the best of the current state of the world and moving forward.
LOEX is committed to raising the voices of those who are underrepresented in our profession and to creating the most inclusive community that we possibly can. LOEX seeks participants and presenters from all types of institutions, positions, backgrounds, and experiences.
Presentation Sessions
- Traditional-length (50 minutes) presentations by one to three presenters. As in previous years, these sessions will make up the large majority of the conference program (an estimated 15-25 sessions). Presentation proposals are due August 31, 2023.
Lightning Talks
- Short (seven minutes maximum) presentations by one presenter; four or five lightning talks are grouped together so they can be given during a single time slot. There likely will only be a couple handfuls (e.g., ten) of these talks as they are intended to be an energizing, but relatively small, part of the conference. Lightning Talk proposals are due August 31, 2023.
